My name is Nathalia Tómasdóttir, and my name carries a story that is deeply personal to me.
I was born as Nathalia Bardales Araujo, the daughter of Tómas Bardales and Olivia Araujo. When I moved to Iceland, I felt truly adopted by this land and its culture. That is why I chose to change my name to Nathalia Tómasdóttir.
This name holds profound meaning. My father never met his biological father, yet he was given the last name Bardales.
By becoming Tómasdóttir, I chose to carry forward his name, not the name of someone absent. For me, it is a way to honour my father, his story, and the resilience he gained by being raised by a single mother.
I am proud of my origins, but even more proud of the women whose strength has guided me and of the new nationality that has given me a true sense of belonging.
Iceland is not just where I live; it is my heritage. Its culture is rich, its truth inspires me, and it brings out the best version of myself.
Through my work, I want to share that same sense of strength, identity, and creativity with you.
Tómasdóttir is more than a name; it is a fresh start, is honest, warmth, and elegant, shaped by mindfulness and meaning.
Thank you for being here. I’m happy to welcome you into this journey.
